Fragile Bollywood Marriages

To many industry insiders, the news of Hrithik Roshan & Suzanne Khan’s split did not come as a surprise. Trouble was brewing between the couple ever since news broke out that the superstar was dating ‘Kites’ co-star Barbara Mori. If you are an avid Bollywood lover & have followed news stories about the couple in the recent past then you should know how this “rumor” destroyed their “We are a perfect couple” image in front of millions of fans who looked upto the beautiful twosome as an example of true love.

Tabloids have been full of Suzanne’s parties here; Suzanne was spotted there with friends; sans husband everywhere! The couple was married for 17 years. They have two kids. They were a beautiful couple and their love for each other showed even in the pictures clicked together at social gatherings as well as private events. But what happened suddenly? The question lies, is the institution of marriage a joke or hypocrisy?

Initially, quick –split culture was prevalent in countries like UK, US, etc but now it’s slowly becoming trend even in India. But couples forget that in a regressively modern country like ours in which the rate of divorced couples is way lesser than married couples. That’s why the consequences of divorces are harsher here for the couples & their families.

Saif Ali Khan & Amrita Singh’s called off their relationship after 14 years of marriage. Aamir Khan left childhood sweet heart Reena Dutta after 15 years & two teenage kids to marry Kiran Rao. He met her on the sets of ‘Lagaan’ & today he bears a toddler from his second wife. Sanjay Dutt is thrice married to date. He first married actress Richa Sharma in 1984, he divorced his second wife after five years & is now married to Manyata Dutt. These are a few illustrated examples, but there are many more to name & celebrated ones at that. You know about them, right? They have either split or divorced. Which still brings us back to the same question – Are they easily breakable? Is it due to pressure from the media or do they want to live their own lives?

Hats off to the stars that have long lasting marriages and still continue to love and respect each other for the positives and negatives and are still together in all the ups and downs that life brings them through. Yes it’s also good to live your life and end a relationship if it doesn’t work out but it also spoils the life of the children if they are at a tender age and not looked after.
